Ragnar Lodbrok: Invasion

One summer day, probably in 789, while "the innocent English people, spread through their plans, were enjoying themselves in tranquility and yoking their oxen to the plough", news was carried to the King's officer, the Reeve of Dorchester, that three ships had arrived on the coast. The Reeve "leapt on his horse and rode with a few men to the harbour, thinking they were merchants and not enemies. Giving his commands as one who had authority, he ordered them to be sent to the King's town; but they slew him on the spot and all who were with him." This was a foretaste of the murderous struggle which, with many changes of fortune, was to harry and devastate England for two hundred and fifty years. It was the beginning of the Viking Age.

Last month I was lucky enough to have a photoshoot with the awesome Jedi Ragnar, my all time favorite Ragnar Lodbrok cosplayer. The day consisted of asking Jedi Ragnar "hey, do you think you could climb that?" and him happily scaling cliffs for some of these awesome shots, along with getting soaked as we waded out into the ocean.
I'm really happy with these photos, hope you like them too.

Jörmungandr - The World Serpent

And with her husband, Loki, did Angrboða beget the world serpent. She had fulfilled her name "the one who brings grief".
But Odin feared the children from the Jötunn pair. Hella, half alive half dead, was banished to Hel, where she would rule. Fenrir, the ever-growing wolf, would be chained, but at a cost to Týr. And Jörmungandr was thrown into the sea, where he would grow so large he would encompass the world.
Angrboða mourned the loss of her children, and swore she would have revenge against the one-eyed god for what he had done. Odin's fears was justified, for his attempts to restrain the children of Angrboða and Loki would have ill effect and result in his downfall.

I did this shoot for an entry in the 'reptiles' section for the Geelong Show photography competition. I knew a lot of people would photograph just reptiles by themselves, so I wanted to be different and try something else.

During Armageddon I had the opportunity to have a mini shoot with Chaos Cosplay, in her Little Sister cosplay from Bioshock. She looked very creepy, and her adam needle was awesome! She was a lot of fun to work with, even with the wind playing up and blowing a gale. Check out her page, it's full of awesome cosplays.

The Royal Geelong Show

Yesterday I attended the Royal Geelong Show, along with Eloquent Mx Loki, Miss Cee, and Lisa of Owl Nest Crafts.
I hadn't been to the show in years, and the others, having lived in Melbourne their lives, hadn't attended the Geelong Show before. We went primarily to check out the results of the competitions Lisa and I had entered. I placed 2nd in the 'Changing faces of Australian Human Form' with my photo "Fair Ladies en Promenade". Whilst Lisa won/placed with four out her five entries!
It was a fun day out though. We petted a lot of animals in the petting zoo, and the baby goats tried to eat Mx Loki and Miss Cee's hair and jackets. I watched the horse events, Miss Cee won a huge stuffed toy, and we went on a couple of rides. We also watched the racing pigs (which was what I really wanted to see), and they were adorable! None of my pigs won, but seeing the diving pigs afterwards made me forget quickly. Mx Loki and I also visited the Blacksmith there, and watched him make a lead rope and horseshoe in front of us, it was interesting to see.
It was a quiet day because it was Thursday, which, while it gives the show a different feel, is actually better because you can walk with space around you and often get bonus items from the prize games or from stalls because you talk to the workers more.
I would like to see the fireworks this year, but I will be at Armageddon this weekend!

Fair Ladies en Promenade

Last month I shot for Obscurae Magazine’s Creature Couture issue.
The shoot had been months in the planning between myself, models, makeup, wardrobe, and horse owner, and everything went smoothly on the day.
I want to give everyone involved a huge thank-you, especially Dick, who let us onto his property and photograph with his horse.

Petplay

This photoset is one I’ve been excited to reveal for a long time.
I photographed this back in August, and submitted nine photos for display in the Oz Kink Art: The Animal Within art exhibition. They were then featured again during the Provocation Fetish Expo After Party.

For this set I wanted to capture the relationship between pet and owner/trainer that is unique to petplay. I also wanted to show the new personalities the pets have when in their spaces, along with the gorgeous aesthetic of different type of gear.

I’m really proud of this set, and so pleased with the response I’ve received from it.

Hard House

During CHAOz I had the pleasure of photographing Tentakitten's Lt. Sasha Kaidonovsky, from Pacific Rim, cosplay. I really enjoyed Pacific Rim; the Kaidonovsky's are awesome characters, and Nat makes an amazing Sasha!
Both Nat and Shelbelly collaborated for months on this cosplay, with Nat sewing and Shelbelly casting the armour. They also won Best Overall at the CHAOz cosplay competition, congratulations!

Crazy? Cicero? That's Madness

The other week I traveled up to the mountains to do a snow shoot with Mx Loki's Cicero. We've been wanting to do a snow shoot for ages, but never had the time. But with the end of winter nearing I was determined to do it.
It was my first time shooting in snow, and I learned a lot on the fly. Next time we will hire a cabin and spend a weekend up there, that way we can retire to warm up when it snows to heavy.
I also want to give a shout out to Karen and Jesse for driving us up and having a snow day with us!

BAMF

This set was shot for, and several of the photos featured in, Obscurae Magazine, Volume 5, Issue 1, 'Book Boutique'.
For this shoot we wanted something colorful, and what's more colorful than comic books? It also allowed us to incorporate some of our favorite characters (Wolverine, Iron Man, Thor etc.) into the dress. The biggest trouble we had with this shoot was Mx Loki and Miss Cee not wanting the comics cut up and wanting to keep them themselves.
I'm really proud with how these photos came out, I feel like I stepped up my game with this shoot.

The Witch's Victory

Once upon a time two children, a brother Hansel and a sister Gretel, were abandoned in the woods. Unable to find their way home, they stumbled across a house made of candy. Because children are greedy they began eating it, the door, the walls, the window, etc.

What they didn’t realize was this house belonged to a witch. She was furious to find children eating her house, as one would be, and promptly locked them up. Every day she would feed Hansel candy to fatten him up, whilst Gretel was put to work cleaning.

When Hansel was plump enough, the witch turned on the oven to cook him. She led the candy-filled boy to her oven, only for the siblings to enact their escape plan.
Gretel pushed the witch into the oven and the two made a break for the door. But she made a mistake, she did not close the oven behind her.
The witch’s magic pierced Gretel’s heart, and she fell at the candy door, her life escaping her body. Now Hansel, too much of a coward to try to help his sister continued running, the witch close behind…

I'm very happy to be able to show you all this set. It was a lot of planning, especially after the first time we went to shoot technical difficulties prevented us from doing so.
But now you can see the full shoot with all it's gore goodness!
A big thank-you to all those involve for braving the cold twice for this set, I'm really proud of the work we've done.

Hansel and Gretel

Last week I had a special gore version of the tale 'Hansel and Gretel' photoshoot.
It had been months in the planning, only to get to the location and my camera died! So we decided to make it a test shoot and I grabbed a couple of shots on a phone to get an idea on angling and light.
I managed to get a couple of good shots, so here they are and hopefully soon we can re-shoot with my new camera.

Hrafn Völva

The gods speak in the crack of thunder, in the rustles of leaves, in the beat of a raven's wings. The Hrafn Völva listens to the voices, reads their messages within the runes. She watches as the ravens Huginn and Muninn fly across the sky, carrying with them the secrets she is to decode.
Will you ask what the gods say about you? Do they bless you with favour, or are they angry with you? Ask the Hrafn Völva if you're destined for great things, or to fail.

Publication Announcement

Greetings everyone, I have some exciting news; I'm getting published!

First off, two of my shoots are being published in Melbourne's own Alt Life Mag. The first being 'The Liesmith's Latex', and the second 'Arachnid Priestess'.

Secondly, an unpublished set 'Hrafn Völva' is going to be published in Obscurae Magazine. And even more exciting news is one of the shots will be featured on the back cover.

All these photos feature Eloquent Mx Loki as the model, and Miss Cee as the makeup artist. And I want to thank both of them, I really love working with them both, and the three of us make a great team.

So stay tuned, I shall announce when these magazines are released, and I might be doing a giveaway as well.

Liesmith in Latex

I'm so happy to finally show these photos. I designed this dress for Mx Loki's birthday/Christmas last year. It was inspired by Lady Loki, and Plastic Kat did an amazing job bringing the design to life.
We had planned this shoot for months, but every time we went to shoot the weather was so hot and latex and heat don't mix. But finally there was a cooler day, and even with the wind blowing, we got amazing shots.
A selection of this shoot will be appearing in the second volume of Alt Life Magazine.

Dubbelkönad

Dubbelkönad, meaning androgynous.
In this set I show Eloquent Mx Loki’s expression of their genderfluidity, and androgyny, by capturing a private, raw, moment during their transition from female to male one morning.

Stacey and the Pirates

I really like Lolita fashion, and the other weekend I was lucky enough to photograph Stacey in some cute Lolita clothes. We spent the day wandering the gardens and shooting, with assistance from Eloquent Mx Loki. I'm happy with how the day went.

Arachnid Priestess

The other week Mx Loki underwent a transformation. No one can explain how or why, but they woke up with extra eyes and the ability to summon spiders to their will. They were now a priestess of the arachnids!
The transformation only lasted one day. The next morning Mx Loki showed no signs of being a spider, the only proof are the photos taken.

Happy 2014

As you've probably noticed Slippery Photography hasn't been updated in the past couple of weeks. This is simply due to the holidays and me moving to a new place.
But don't worry, I've still got a couple of shots to upload, and have a few shoots lined up this month, so everything will be back to business soon.
