M.A.D Fashion Showcase 2016

Back at the start of April the Melbourne Alternative Designers hosted their first fashion showcase! It was an awesome night, which I was lucky enough to be there as media. My posting on this has been delayed, but I can now post photos and my review of the night!

Supanova 2016

This past weekend saw the start of Victoria's convention season with Supanova!
This year I opened up bookings for 30 minute shoots for the first time. I really enjoyed this set up; it allowed me to photograph some awesome cosplayers more creatively and thoroughly than just con floor photos. It also let these cosplayers get great photos of their cosplays; I know how much effort people put into their cosplays for a con, but they're not always able to do photoshoots outside of events.

Because of these shoots, I didn't get much time to take in much of the convention, but I still had a good time. Supanova once again blocked off a section of the show grounds. This is a feature that I do like; it means you can go into the buildings a lot quicker and easier as the process isn't slowed down by getting out our wristband and making sure the person can see it. They also separated the celebrity photos/signings from exhibitor's hall, which last year made exhibitor's nervous but I think greatly helped with crowds this year. Saturday was packed, the busiest I have ever seen it and if you had the celebrity lines in the exhibitor's hall it would have been chaotic. The crowd grew worse with the weather, when rain began people would try to pack into the hall, leaving little space to move. In comparison Sunday was extremely quiet, you could move around the exhibitor's hall comfortably all day. I'm not sure why this was the case, but it was interesting.

I love bjd photography; it's where I started, and lets me explore new techniques without wasting a model's time. This shoot features Zaoll, a Zaoll 'Luv', wearing top and space leggings by Dorset Clothing.

Back in June of 2015 I shot with the gorgeous Eloquent Mx Loki and a bunch of vintage suitcases. I edited the photos and then did nothing with them, which is a shame because Mx Loki is stunning. So I'm pulling them out to show all of you befre they get lost on my external forever!

It's been six months since the last self portrait. I've actually been planning this since December/January but haven't been able to photograph it right. But it is still relevant, even more so now.

Fehu is both the day-to-day reality of our lives and the catalyst that awakens us to what lies beyond. It is whatever we think we are seeking, which frequently bears no resemblance to what we will eventually find. It is also our home, for after all our wanderings we will still need to attend to our physical needs and ground ourselves in the simple pleasures of home, family, and good work. -Runestones

I've returned to Fehu for aid with finances. Late last year Eloquent Mx Loki learned that their uni fees were being increased, so I set up a Go Fund Me to help out, and so many of our generous friends helped us out. This year my uni isn't offering scholarships, and whilst I wasn't guaranteed to be granted any, it would have been helpful to pay for my travel to and from uni. Also Mx Loki and I will most likely be moving in the second half of the year, so we're needing to save up money to help with that. It's also why Fehu is important right now; I'm in a transitional phase where I'm mentally ready to move and start a new routine, but I'm still here I still have my studies to worry about and still need to save up extra money for it. So I need to ground myself again in this moment, stop living in the future and live now.

Over the Summer holidays I offered Rune Portrait packages. As a thank-you for doing the rune readings, I had a shoot with the wonderful Ziggy. They were so great, and seemed to ascend; connecting with the rune, during the shoot.

Black Widow

I'm so happy to be able to share these photos with you all.
We shot these back in March in Mad Dame's studio. It was my first time experimenting with colored lighting, and I really love how it turned out. Mx Loki looks stunning, I'm glad these appear in Gorgeous Freaks Magazine, along with a write up on them.

If I Had A Heart

I'm excited to share my project for my Graphics Design class at the Academy of Design Australia. The aim of this project was to create a Record Cover; along with a CD cover/booklet, poster, and t-shirt.
I chose Fever Ray's If I Had A Heart, I really love her music, and her lyrics are so quirky. I combined this with my current trend of Runes, by using Mannaz, meaning mankind.

Uta

The other night I played around with lighting and photographed Mx Loki's Uta 'Statue Legends' figure. I enjoy still lifes because it allows me to practice lighting and I can use small desk lamps and get really cool results.
